Eco-Friendly and Energy-Efficient Living

The foundation of our eco-friendly system begins with our powerful 16.5 kWh solar panel installation. This solar array generates enough electricity to power the entire property, effectively reducing our carbon footprint. Any surplus energy produced during sunny days is stored and used to cover our electricity needs during the night. This approach ensures continuous, renewable power for our guests and optimal energy management throughout the day and night.

To complement our solar power system, we have installed a high-efficiency heat pump that requires minimal energy to generate significant heat. Capable of heating water up to 70°C, this heat pump is a cornerstone of our energy-saving strategy. Our heating system also features large, low-temperature radiators, which are designed to provide consistent warmth without excessive energy consumption.

Typically, our hot water system is set to a maximum of 45°C, which is comfortable even during the colder months, and around 36°C when outside temperatures are milder. This balance helps keep the entire property warm and inviting while using as little energy as possible.

Intelligent Temperature Management

The hot water temperature in our system can range from 45°C to 60°C, depending on energy availability. Our home automation server, which controls the entire property, intelligently manages this process. For example, if 2 kWh of surplus energy is available, the system will automatically begin heating the water to 50°C. If 4 kWh is available, it will increase the temperature to 60°C. Our 750-liter hot water storage tank allows us to maintain hot water for up to two or more days, ensuring that even on cloudy days, guests will have a consistent supply without compromising efficiency.

Our property is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors that detect occupancy and adjust room temperatures accordingly. This capability significantly reduces energy waste by optimizing heating only when needed. If a room is unoccupied, the system automatically lowers the temperature, saving energy without sacrificing comfort.

Bathrooms feature humidity sensors that control ventilation fans, ensuring that they operate only when necessary. This eliminates the disturbance of automatic fan activation every time the light is switched on, reduces energy use, and maintains optimal humidity levels at all times. Once the fan turns off, it ensures that all humidity has been effectively removed, providing a healthier indoor environment.

The brain behind our energy-efficient operations is a sophisticated home automation server. This system manages every aspect of energy use in real time, from heating and lighting to water temperature. By leveraging real-time data, our system maximizes the use of available solar energy, ensuring that no power goes to waste.

For instance, when the system detects spare energy of 2 kWh, it automatically heats water to 50°C. If there is more energy available, say 4 kWh, it increases the water temperature to 60°C. With a substantial storage capacity of 750 litres, we can store hot water for days, ensuring efficient operation even when sunshine is limited.
The system also automatically controls all the smart locks, lights, swimming pool pumps, garden irrigation, and hot water circulation pumps.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our outdoor lighting. The automated system activates parking and footpath lights only when it detects movement, ensuring that lights are not left on unnecessarily. Outdoor lights in private areas operate from dusk until 10 p.m., providing a safe and pleasant ambience without excess energy use.

Lastly, our property features excellent insulation, which enhances our energy performance by reducing heat loss and maintaining consistent indoor temperatures. This focus on insulation complements our other eco-friendly measures, allowing us to deliver a comfortable and warm stay without excessive energy use.
